Wakey’s biggest cosplay experience

Legends of the big screen are set to assemble at Trinity Walk for Wakey’s biggest cosplay experience – Star Walk.

Join us for two free days of movie stars, cars and props, plus free face painting and giveaways on Saturday April 13 and Sunday April 14 with all cash and contactless card donation going to for Forget Me Not children’s hospice of West Yorkshire.

Align with the Autobots and stand shoulder to shoulder with Optimus Prime and Bumblebee for selfies, before going pink with Barbie.

The jaw-dropping Techno Spartans will be performing live both days too – including K-Pop random play dance (RPD) activities where the audience can take part in at around 1pm both days near The Entertainer/GIVEBOX/Supercuts. The performers from Sheffield wear LED-covered costumes inspired by the world-famous Halo games and TV show.

And if that isn’t Ken-ough, feel the Force with Star Wars characters from three different costume groups over the weekend: UK Garrison and 5th Legion on the Saturday and Mos Eisley Misfits on the Sunday.

Heroes will assemble

Evil will be kept at bay thanks to an array of heroes. Deadpool, Barbie, Elsa and Iron Man will all rub shoulders with Batman, Spider-man, Optimus Prime, Belle and Chewbacca.

We also have LEGO Batgirl on Saturday outside The Entertainer toy shop. Plus you might see Stitch both days too wondering around the centre!

Prop-er good photo opps

Giant Barbie and Star Wars toy boxes are just two of many photo opps alongside Luke’s speeder from Star Wars.

You can also hop in the free London selfie cab and snap some pics for social. Then crane your neck to see the giant Stay Puft alongside a Batman Begins statue.

Wheel experiences

Fan-made move cars will be parking up across both days.

On Saturday lookout for the Starsky and Hutch Gran Turismo, Postman Pat van, A-Team van, Only Fools and Horses van, Lightning McQueen, Jurassic Park jeep, London Selfie Cab plus a Pontiac and Camaro.

On Sunday catch Starsky’s car again plus Postman Pat van, Lightning, Jurassic Park jeep and London Selfie Cab.

Details, details, details

First mission: be a hero and get it in the diary.

Cars and props 10am to 4pm, characters 11am to 3.30pm (with breaks) each day. Face painting 10am to 4pm.

Finding us is easy. We’re right in the heart of Wakefield city centre with a 1,000 space carpark, 90 steps from the bus stations and less than 10 minutes from Wakefield Westgate and Kirkgate train stations.

Please enter the car park form the A61 Marsh Way main entrance. From the car park, please use the 2 big lifts or stairs to head upwards to the main malls, walk round the back of Asda Living (no steps) or head up through Next via escalator.

We are big, wide and flat so easy to access with push chairs, prams and anyone with mobility issues. Everyone welcome. We have toilets, family/accessible toilets and a Changing Places toilet too. Plus free wi-fi.

On the Saturday you can get your first 2 hours’ parking for free is you spend £10+ at Sainsbury’s and get it validated.
And all day Sunday parking is just 50p. Winner.

All characters are cosplay/mascots/fan-made exhibits. Many are volunteers (thank you!) and subject to change without notice (although they’ll do their best to be there as you know if you’ve visited before).

Please do not touch the characters, props or cars and please always keep your children supervised at all times.
