Parking changes FAQ

  • What will change?

The price of parking for one hour will go from 90p to £1, the price of parking for two hours will go from £1.60 to £1.80, three hours £2.40 to £2.60 and four hours £3.40 to £3.60.

And 5 hours will remain the same at £5 and £1 per hour thereafter.

We’ve made the bare minimum changes to offset our massively escalating energy costs. Plus other additional costs like materials, equipment and parts have gone up in the same period.

  • What deals are on?

If you spend £10 or more at Sainsbury’s or Argos you get your first two hours’ parking for free meaning £2 will be taken off your total parking charge. So grabbing a few bits while you’re here means a typical visit is free or very cheap.

If you’re a PureGym member parking is free.

Remember, to get any of these deals you must have your ticket validate din store and also put it into a pay machine to check it before leaving.

  • When is cheapest to visit?

It’s 50p all day parking every Sunday, every bank holiday and every evening after 6pm.

  • Will Sundays and bank holidays still be 50p all day?

Yes absolutely. No changes there and it’s also 50p after 6pm every evening.

  • Why isn’t it free?

We are based right in a city centre, so we can’t offer parking. In reality people who work in Wakefield would most likely take many of the spaces leaving little or none for customers. Very few city centres offer free parking like ours.

It’s worth noting too that Sundays are the cheapest day to park here at just 50p all day – but it’s by far our quietest day for shoppers and footfall. So cheap or free doesn’t always automatically mean busy.

Above all that, the car park charges help us keep it maintained and safe – it’s a big double decker space! In fact we could do with more.

  • Trinity Walk parking charges are expensive, right?

Nope. It’s worth looking at parking prices of surrounding like Leeds and further down the road, Sheffield. Bradford is pretty similar to ours.

  • What else should I know?

We offer 10 minutes’ discretionary parking, so if you’re just nipping in to collect or drop-off then it’s free. Please see conditions on our website under ‘parking’.
