New Trinity Walk car park equipment FAQs

New Trinity Walk car park equipment FAQs

  • What’s happening and what’s coming?

New car park equipment has now been installed (for the first time in our nearly 15 year history).

State-of-the-art new kit now installed and run by our existing provider, Orbility.

The changeover has now been completed and ANPR is now active meaning you can just drive up to a barrier, it will read your number plate and lift automatically. See below for more.

Signage is up at all entry barriers and pay stations.

  • What’s new and how will it work?

The new system now means you won’t need a ticket on entry, just drive through when the barrier raises.

Before you leave just visit a new pay station, type in your car number plate and it’ll tell you how much you owe. It’s all via the magic of number plate recognition on entry (ANPR).

That means when you drive up, the barriers will read your number plate and lift automatically.

If a plate can’t be read, you’ll be given a paper ticket. Keep this safe. You’ll need to scan it to pay before leaving and scan again on an exit barrier.

During busy periods, you can also validate your Sainsbury’s discount voucher and pay anything you owe at the exit barriers. It’s best to use 1 of our 5 pay stations, but this is also an option when it’s busy. Please have a payment card ready in case you need to pay anything extra.

Thanks for your patience during this new rollout. Staff are on hand to help, signage is in place and you can always buzz for help 24/7 form any pay station and barrier.

  • Will I get a ticket on entry?

Almost never! No ticket on entry. Instead, the barrier will just raise.

The only time you will get a ticket is if the barrier doesn’t raise – this means the cameras cannot read you number plate.

It’s the only time you’ll be given a paper ticket. Keep this safe. You’ll need to scan it to pay before leaving and scan again on an exit barrier.

  • What about free 2 hours parking with £10+ spend at Sainsbury’s?

This offer will continue with the new car park kit in place. As above, your 2 hours discount will be printed on an additional validation ticket that follows the customer receipt. Please make sure you ask for/print a receipt to get this deal.

Then scan this additional ticket at a pay machine before you pay to get the discount. It has a barcode on you must scan before paying.

    No ticket, no discount.

Any questions about parking discounts and validation tickets, please ask a team member in  Sainsbury’s.

  • Why is it changing?

Our car park kit is a decade and half old and needs replacing. It breaks down more regularly, as you’d expect, given the age and amount it’s used. So time for new kit.

  • How can I pay?

As for many years, it’s card and contactless payments only so please make sure you can pay before entering our car park. No cash is accepted.

So you can pay by card, contactless and phone.

For wheelchair and mobility scooter users, you can press the wheelchair icon – the screen to enter your number plate then appears at the bottom of the screen instead of the top, making it much easier to access.

Any probs, just pres the call button and we’ll help 🙂

  • Will the car park close while this happens?

No. Kit is replaced daytime and also out of hours, meaning you can always get it and out of the car park 24/7.

  • What else should I know?

Parking charges apply to all vehicles, including Blue Badge Holders, and are broadly in line with other car parks in the area.

Lost tickets (where applicable) are charged at the full day rate of £12.

Strict height restriction is 2.1 metres.

Disabled and parent & toddler spaces are on the upper deck near Sainsbury’s.
