The brand-new Tenpin venue will include 24 state-of-the-art bowling lanes

Fit out is under way on a huge new Tenpin bowling and entertainment centre, being created inside the former Debenhams unit at Trinity Walk, Wakefield.

Tenpin, one of the UK’s leading bowling and entertainment providers, is set to open a brand-new centre in late spring – taking over the entire upper floor of the iconic unit.

The brand-new Tenpin venue will include 24 state-of-the-art bowling lanes, two karaoke rooms, laser tag arena, three escape rooms by Houdini’s, interactive darts, arcade area, pool tables, plus a vibrant bar serving food and cocktails.

“This is a really exciting project and once completed, we are sure people from Wakefield and beyond will love it.

The 24 lanes of bowling will be brilliant, but it doesn’t stop there as the centre will be packed with even more entertainment from karaoke to darts to escape rooms. Perfect for mates, families, parties and schools.

We’re really pleased to play a key part in evolving this iconic space into something exciting and different. During the coming weeks, people will be able to see a tangible difference with the site and make it feel very real – which we hope will excite thousands of people ahead of opening.”

- Marc Couget, Tenpin Regional Manager of Tenpin

First purpose-built bowling alley in Wakefield city centre for decades

For almost a year, major demolition and preparation works have been under way in the space to create two separate units – ready for the creation of what is believed to be the first purpose-built bowling alley in Wakefield city centre for decades.

The last to open centrally was Fairlanes in the 1960s on Denby Dale Road near George Street.

"This new Tenpin experience is massive for Trinity Walk and for the whole of Wakefield. For years, people have been asking for tenpin bowling in the city centre and this will deliver on that and much, much more.

To take such a big space shows the confidence Tenpin has in Trinity Walk and the city. And it’s really uplifting to see the old Debenhams unit brought back to life. This is next level stuff for Trinity Walk.”

- James White, Centre Manager of Trinity Walk

An exact opening date will be confirmed in due course.
